In 2011 Bas gained his Bachelor of Music Education degree at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Currently he works at the Music Education Department (ODM) of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam as a teacher of Guitar (accompaniment), non-Western Music Pedagogy, Community Music, Instrumental Group Education, Coaching in Music Education and as an Intern Coach. He works in the Classical Department of the CvA as a teacher of several courses including Guitar (side subject), Group Teaching and Accompany Skills.
As a guest teacher Bas teaches as a teacher of educational courses at the classical faculty of Codarts Conservatory of Rotterdam.
As a music educator, Bas has worked in various settings and places. His experience inside the classroom includes singing with guitar, composing with children, percussion workshops with all ages, schoolyard concerts, developing teaching material for elementary school and bandcoaching.
He worked at the Leerorkest as an instrumental group teacher, teaching trombone and occasionally conducting the children’s orchestra. One of his main focuses in the education field is Instrumental Group Teaching, in which Bas has taught teacher-trainings and workshops to for example Stichting Leerorkest Amsterdam, Muziekschool Salland, Muzieklab Haarlem, Volharding Steenbergen en De Koninklijke Filharmonie Vlaanderen.
Bas works at Aslan Muziekcentrum as an arranger/conductor of the 'AslanWereldorkest' and as a teacher of Music Theory.
